Content and Discovery Manager

Job Details:
Job Description

We are looking for an inspiring and strategic leader to manage and progress the development of our Library content, collections, and discovery systems at Middlesex University.

As a senior member of the Library Services and Digital Skills Education directorate within Digital and Library Services, you will oversee the planning, delivery, and innovation of a collections service that is customer-focused, cost-effective, and highly efficient. You will ensure our resources anticipate the current and future needs of the academic community across learning, teaching, and research. Overseeing the Content and Discovery team, including the Access and Acquisitions Team Leader, the Subscriptions and Partnerships Team Leader and Cataloguer, you will set a clear vision and strategic policy for all aspects of content management.

You will champion evidence-based decision-making in the provision of materials, managing the allocation and oversight of the substantial circa £3,000,000 learning materials budget. You will act as the business owner for our key library management systems (currently Alma and Primo) and reading list system (currently Keylinks), liaising with technical product specialists to ensure user experience and system development.

Your role involves taking strategic ownership of complex licensing, procurement, and supplier relationships to ensure value for money and seamless online access for all users. Furthermore, you will play a key part in supporting our overseas campuses and collaborative partners.

We are looking for a candidate with outstanding leadership skills, a deep understanding of content provision in electronic information environments, and a proven track record of managing large budgets and driving efficiency improvements in library workflows. You must be an expert on issues associated with materials procurement, licensing, and collection development within the Higher Education sector.
