Middlesex University has established a wholly owned  subsidiary, MU Services Limited, to provide professional services to the University.  It forms part of the Middlesex University Group. Staff of MU Services Limited will work alongside Middlesex University staff and will be employed by MU Services Limited.

International Applicants

 

The new Immigration 'Points Based System' (New immigration system: what you need to know - GOV.UK) came into force in the UK on 1 December 2020, (opening to EU citizens from 1 January 2021), it will enable non UK applicants to apply and be appointed for roles, subject to the eligibility criteria being met. Middlesex University is a trusted skilled worker and Tier 5 GAE sponsored researcher licence holder. Check if you need a UK visa - GOV.UK alternatively you can speak to the HR Shared Services Manager, Mr Carsten Price at C.Price@mdx.ac.uk or the HR Consultant, Mrs Sarah Munro at S.Munro@mdx.ac.uk.

Staff applying to MU Services Limited should note that we hold a skilled worker licence and are able to sponsor overseas workers. EU citizens and their family members living in the UK before 31 December 2020 are reminded that they can apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to stay in the UK, now and anytime up to the 30 June 2021. Find out more about the EU Settlement Scheme on GOV.UK

For Applicants that require an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) as part of their VISA application to work in the UK, here is some useful guidance on how to apply for your ATAS certificate. (Jobs will be highlighted where they require an ATAS Certificate.) 

The Global Talent immigration route is available for people aged 18 or over who can show they have either exceptional talent or exceptional promise in the fields of science, engineering, medicine, humanities, digital technology or arts & culture. It enables individuals to apply to the Home Office directly for endorsement and for visa entry. If successful they will receive a portable visa. More information about the Global Talent visa is available at Global Talent Guidance & Global Talent visa - GOV.UKFor academic or research appointments, the University will provide a statement of guarantee for any individual selecting the global talent academic/research fast track option.  Individuals will have to have been offered and accepted an academic or research position at the University that has responsibility for academic, research or innovation leadership and development; direct or lead an individual or team in either a research project or programme of work; or an innovation project or a programme of work.

The university will also provide a statement of guarantee for Global talent visa fast track applications under the UKRI endorsed funder path, and will confirm that the applicant provides critical contributions to work supported by a research grant or award from an endorsed funder, and the grant and the applicant’s role meets the eligibility criteria. Applicants will be individuals whose name or job title is specified in a successful grant application from an endorsed funder approved by UKRI and who are either hosted or employed by an eligible institution approved by UKRI.

*Temporary concession for researchers working on COVID-19 grants* | International academics and researchers wishing to work on COVID-19 related research grants can apply for a Global Talent visa via the endorsed funder route under relaxed criteria until 31 January 2021.

Your development

We are committed to developing our staff both for their current roles and to equip them to face the challenges and changes of the future. The development needs of individuals are met through a comprehensive range of professional, personal, leadership and management development that is linked to the needs of schools/services and supports the achievement of the University's corporate objectives.

Your development will start with your induction and will continue through in house courses, seminars, workshops, online modules and coaching. You are also encouraged to make use of learning opportunities wherever they present themselves in the everyday environment. This might include networking, projects, new work activities, on the job learning and using learning resources. Academic staff are expected to undertake scholarly activity in their field and have four weeks of self-managed time for such activity each year.
