Middlesex University London is recruiting for Senior Technician position in Music at our joint education institute in partnership with Minzu University of China (MUC) on the tropical island of Hainan, in the South China Sea. Middlesex University has campuses in London, Dubai and Mauritius, and an international network of partners.

The Senior Technician (Music) will provide essential technical expertise, guidance, and specialised support in Music and Music Production across our facilities. This includes but is not limited to recording studios, rehearsal spaces, post-production suites, and live performance environments. You will be an ambitious self-starter and a skilled technical expert, playing a key role in the success of our BA (Hons) Music programme and the Joint Institute. 

Your focus will be to ensure the efficient operation of Music and Music Production facilities, deliver technical inductions, demonstrations, and hands-on workshops, and provide specialist input that directly supports teaching, learning, and research activities. You will work collaboratively with staff and students from other creative disciplines to enable interdisciplinary learning and production, ensuring students gain the technical and creative skills necessary for their studies and future careers. 

The posts will be based at the Hainan campus of the joint education institute. Candidates must be able to meet the Chinese visa requirements; Middlesex University will assist with obtaining a visa. Any offer of employment for this role is also conditional upon obtaining a satisfactory basic DBS certificate or equivalent. 

Satisfactory basic clearance is required in order to obtain a visa and/or work permit to lawfully work in Hainan, China. The successful candidates will receive: An extremely competitive salary in the market; 35 days annual leave; Pension Scheme membership; Assistance with relocation, and accommodation in China; Reimbursement of Visa application expenses; Health Insurance; and annual return flights and airport pick-up.
