The Faculty of Science and Technology is looking to recruit a (Windows & Linux) Server Support Technician to work with the academic Departments and our Computing Infrastructure. There are five Departments within the Faculty: Design Engineering, Computer Science, Natural Sciences, Psychology and the London Sports Institute. Technical Team members will work across all five Departments. A significant part of the role will be supporting the critical IT systems & servers across a wide base of operating systems. 

The successful candidate will make a significant contribution to supporting critical IT systems and security. The successful candidate will fit into following areas of work: An ideal candidate will have proven experience of managing Windows & Linux systems in a multi user and/or educational environment as well as experience with other operating systems, storage infrastructure and webserver management. The ability to work independently and with colleagues on complex support issues. Contribute to ongoing and future research projects, and assist with day-to-day management of our other research computing systems and computing infrastructure. Experience of virtualisation technologies are essential e.g. vSphere, VMware, along with robust fault finding skills and advanced Linux troubleshooting.
