In its aim to bring all STEM subjects under one roof, the Faculty offers a significant advantage to anyone who values working with colleagues in complimenting fields to theirs, in research as well as in teaching and practice. We are also committed to promoting equality and diversity, including the Athena SWAN charter for promoting women’s careers in STEM subjects in higher education.

The Department of Design Engineering and Mathematics has a teaching portfolio that includes Product Design, Design Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics and Building Information Modelling. This is a dynamic and a progressive department, flourishing with its innovative curriculum and practice.

The department has a sustained network of industry engagement and has built several strategic partnerships, some spanning over three decades. Our partnerships also include membership of industry consortiums as well as organisations championing our sectors such as GAMBICA and WorldSkills UK. The department is a member of Women’s Engineering Society (WES), SEFI and Engineering Professors Council, providing ample network opportunities for its staff. It is also a founding member of the Siemens-Festo consortium, Connected Curriculum Project, leading the way in embedding industry practices into academic provision. The department is highly active in its outreach programmes as well as organising national and international competitions in Automation, Mechatronics and Robotics. These will offer the right candidate significant opportunities to develop themselves, their subject interest within as well as across the departments and with our industry partners.

Informal enquiries should be made to Professor Mehmet Karamanoglu on M.Karamanoglu@mdx.ac.uk.

Interviews will take place on 17-18th June 2025.
